The Application
To be considered for the Summer School, we ask that you submit your CV, plus a written statement explaining why you would like to attend (500 words maximum). Please ensure your applications are submitted by Thursday 14th March (5pm - UTC+01:00). We will notify all applicants of the outcome by Thursday 21st March.
The summer school is aimed at attendees from Masters level through to junior faculty. If these criteria do not apply to you but you are still keen to attend, please detail in your application why you would benefit from the summer school. We would expect attendees to have basic programming abilities in either R or Matlab but advanced programming abilities are not required.
Fees
The registration fee for CSC is £350. The price covers registration, 4 nights accommodation (in the beautiful Chamberlain Halls at Vale Village, 14th - 17th July), breakfast, coffee, lunch, and dinner on 2 nights. There are a limited number of fee waivers (full registration waived, and up to £300 towards travel costs depending on the location of travel) available for participants who would not otherwise be able to attend the Summer School. If you would like to be considered for one of these, please indicate this as part of your application.

All teaching sessions and talks will take place here on campus. We are also providing accommodation (single en-suite, in flats with additional shared kitchen and living areas) on campus. Social activities will happen both on campus and in the city. Further information will be provided when the full program is released.
Accommodation
Accommodation will be at Vale Village a 10 minute walk to campus: Chamberlain (birmingham.ac.uk).
Private rooms will be provided in the Chamberlain Hall accommodation for 4 nights from Sunday 14th July (check in from 4pm) to Thursday, 18th July (check out by 10am).
Transport
The University of Birmingham is accessible by train from Birmingham New Street Station, in the city centre (10 minutes). You can also make a connection here from Birmingham International Station at Birmingham Airport (30 minutes).
Birmingham Airport has direct flights to multiple major European cities in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, and others. There are multiple connections through Amsterdam (a 45 minute flight).
There will also be an option to travel by train for those wishing to minimise carbon footprint, with direct trains to London in 70 minutes, with connections to Europe via the Eurostar.
VISA’s
If your CSC 2024 application is successful and you require a letter of invitation for a VISA application please get in touch and we will provide this. Information about VISA eligibility is available on the UK government website at https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor.
